As a staff member within the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, you are responsible for knowledge of and compliance with National Collegiate Athletics Association ( NCAA) regulations, both those general in nature and those which apply directly to your position’s responsibilities. Have a thorough knowledge of NCAA, conference and institutional rules and conduct the program within the regulations.Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate through oral, written and electronic forms.Demonstrated success in recruiting and retaining quality student-athletes, particularly at the regional (Midwest) level.Demonstrated ability to communicate with and relate well to student-athletes, high school/club coaches and department support staff.Demonstrated knowledge of and adherence to NCAA rules and regulations.Minimum of five years coaching experience and demonstrated successful coaching experience in Baseball at institution of higher education beyond High School or within Major league or Minor league professional baseball.Assist with departmental needs as requested Cash handling responsibilities - $5,000 – $10,000 annually When practical under the circumstances, intercollegiate athletic staff is encouraged to voluntarily attend all athletic events to promote audience participation and support for NIU team efforts.Perform both direct and indirect public relations functions including promotion, fund raising, public speaking, community events, and through camps and/or clinics.Perform team-related administrative duties such as budget, scheduling, travel arrangements, etc.Responsible for the development, safety and conduct of the student-athletes within the baseball program. Monitor and maintain the discipline and conduct of student-athletes to support the image and reputation of the department and university.Selection, oversight, development, and retention of staff (assistants, graduate assistants and managers).Supervise the recruitment strategy to attract top level, Division I prospects including identification, assessment, campus visits and implementation of campus resources.Supervise, in conjunction with the athletic tutoring and advising program, the total academic progress of the team implementing corrective action plans through appropriate staff. ![]()
